Q4 Service Department Update
Hello to all my fellow employees at Champion Elevator. Having completed the last quarter of a challenging year, you have all done a great job dealing with the obstacles that occurred in 2020. You have all had to deal with the ongoing pandemic and the growth of the company last quarter.
With the acquisition of Westech Elevator, we added over 750 elevators to our portfolio, and with the great work of our Sales Department we now service over 2,300 elevators. From this acquisition, we also gained valuable employees in the field and office staff.
In the Service Department we added an experienced Supervisor/Troubleshooter in Zam Trutta. Zam will be covering the Upper Manhattan/Bronx/Westchester area troubleshooting and quieting down any trouble elevators. We also added Matt Garritty, Andrew Pagan, Robert Ivory, Javier Valverde, Nick Alacantra, Augustine Fontanez, Emanuel Nunez, Dragon Stojadinov, and Mike Brogan as Service Techs on new routes we added. In addition, we added Carlos Farjado, John Gorman, Carlos Soto, and Wayne Martinsen. These techs cover the ICON Parking garage elevators we service. We also welcome Nick Capanna, Robert Olivares and Gabriel Sandres, who are new helpers that are working in the Service Department. Finally, Tianna Famania and Emily Castro have been a valuable addition to the Service Department, as they have been working on dispatching and service billing.
Last year was a new experience for all of us. We had to learn how to work safely and efficiently through the pandemic and the emotional stress it has caused. We have had a great deal of growth throughout last year and, considering the amount of work each one of you has done to make these transitions work, I and Champion Elevator want to thank you for the help and professional way you have all worked to make 2020 a successful year. Here is to a Better & Safer 2021 to all.
Ted Mazola, Vice President Repair Operations
Q4 Repair Department Update
2020 brought on a unique set of challenges to our business and core goals. We had to look at things like building access, public interaction, and safety training (to name a few) in a completely different light and adjust accordingly. In spite of these challenges, we maintained a decent backlog of work and steady growth. The repair operations department ended the year with a good performance, and we now boast a bright outlook for 2021.
Our last quarter of 2020 saw big pickups through the acquisition of Westech elevator, and our sales team provided tremendous help and support in growing our repair business by stressing the need for pre-maintenance repairs to our newer customers. One big highlight was the signing of the Luna Park buildings in Brooklyn to a maintenance contract with a hefty amount of pre-maintenance repair work.
In November 2020, we successfully released a new lead generation app for mechanics through a partnership with Elevator Zip. This app allows mechanics to provide repair leads for units on their routes simply and seamlessly on their phones. Each lead proposed and sold offers an incentive for the mechanic for each elevator, up to 4 times per year. To date, there have been over $150,000 in leads proposed through the app.
I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication to Champion Elevator throughout 2020 and look forward to continued success with all of you this year in 2021.
Stay safe and be mindful of others.
Robert Masterson, President Modernization/Construction
Q4 Modernization & Construction Department Update
The Modernization department is in full force. We continue to progress with all mod jobs despite the recent spike with COVID-19 cases.
During the last quarter of 2020, our industry showed a dip and decrease in work hours. However, the trend is just the opposite here at Champion Elevator.
We continue to grow and thrive with the addition of 4 new teams.
We are currently operating with a total of 34 teams.
Co-Op City Project
Congratulations to everyone involved with this job. We have now passed our halfway mark.
It’s all hands on deck and full steam ahead on the second half of this truly amazing project.
We continue to exceed our customers’ expectations and look forward to an even more successful year ahead.
Well done!
We Got This!
Donna Scibetta, President Testing & Violations
